Skoda 7-seater SUV may be called Kodiak – world debut in October-2016

Skoda Auto is said to be working on its new SUV for quite some time now, rumoured to be called Skoda Snowman or Skoda Polar. According to Germany’s Auto Bild, the Czech automobile manufacturer is expected to be christened as the ‘Kodiak’.

As per reports, the Kodiak will be based on the second-generation MQB platform; will be offered in five and seven-seat configurations. It will be offered in both front-wheel-drive as well as all-wheel-drive options. The 7-seater SUV is scheduled to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show to be held in October-2016.

Under the hood, the Kodiak will have both diesel and petrol engine options, which have been borrowed from the Superb and Octavia. The power from these engines will be transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Ahead of the Paris Motor Show, the Kodiak might be officially revealed this summer, as per the AutoBild reports. Skoda Auto may consider bringing Kodiak to India as well! A possibility of Skoda doing this is high, as it would be foolish of them to ignore the boom in popularity of utility vehicles in premium segments, but will they? Only time can tell…
