You’ve seen the spyshots already but this will be the first clear spy pictures of the upcoming Yamaha MT-25 Sportsbike to hit the web, courtesy of Indonesian blog TMCblog.
Yamaha’s upcoming street-fighter is an YZF-R25 without fairing.
The MT-25 is the naked sibling of the Yamaha YZF-R25 and could launch in Indonesia by June-August 2015. From the spy pictures, it is evident that the MT-25 gets R25’s chassis, suspension, exhaust, seat, alloy wheels and engine. Changes are limited to new headlamps, compact instrument cluster, fairing chin, and air-intake tubes on fuel tank.
The handlebar and seating position too is slightly altered in comparison to the R25, for a more upright riding position. Power comes from parallel-twin cylinder 250cc engine offering 36 PS peak power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm peak torque at 10,000 rpm mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Once launched, the Yamaha MT-25 will directly compete with KTM Duke 250, Kawasaki Z250 and Honda CBR 250R.
