Yamaha Fazer FI version 2.0 spied for the first time

Just last-week, Yamaha Motor India launched the version 2.0 fuel injected FZ and FZ-S, maintaining tight-lip on logically upcoming Fazer FI. Also, the Japanese bike manufacturer didn’t unveil the Fazer V2.0 at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, could they have something more special to new Fazer?

At the moment, we don’t have any clear details about the Fazer V2.0 except the spy pictures snapped by Throttlequest reader Spandan Singh. From the spy pictures, we can make-out the changes like the new angular tank, redesigned tail and grab rail, tyre hugger and split seat are inherited from latest FZ launch. Front fairing that sets Fazer apart, gets noticeable makeover to accommodate sportier headlamps.

Mechanically, the new Fazer FI version 2.0 will share the same fuel injected engine as found on the new FZ series. The motorcycle could be powered by a 149cc single-cylinder motor with fuel injection technology that spits-out 13.1bhp of power and 12.8Nm of torque; also there should be some weight reduction which will improve the overall performance. However, the Fazer targeted as the touring version of the FZ, always lacked power that could be sort-out either by plonking a bigger engine or tuning.

We expect Yamaha to launch the new Fazer FI version 2.0 at the start of festive season in September. While the current Yamaha Fazer retails at Rs. 82,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), expect to see a significant price rise on the new model. The company will continue to sell the carburetted model for at least some time or till stocks last.
