Couple of weeks earlier, we speculated Yamaha India would launch 125cc scooter targeted mainly for family buyers, but things didn’t work-out as per our prediction. Instead the company announced a Safety Awareness Programme for kids and no new products were launched at the event. Now 2 weeks after the event, our good friend at MotorBeam has snapped first ever pictures of Yamaha’s upcoming scooter named ‘Cygnus Alpha.’

From the spy picture, Yamaha Alpha scooter looks similar to the Ray but with a longer and muscular body it shouts that its targeted for desi family buyers. The Alpha scooter is expected to share the same 113cc engine and chassis, as the exhaust, telescopic fork front suspension and steel wheels look similar to the ones on Ray scooter. If plonked a similar mill, the Alpha can deliver a peak power of 7bhp and a maximum torque of 8.1 Nm.

Undoubtedly, the company will launch the Alpha scooter at the 12th Auto Expo in Noida which is scheduled to commence from February 5 to February 11, 2014. Many customers were eagerly waiting for Yamaha scooter that will take on the likes of Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and TVS Jupiter 125. Now we wish that Cygnus Alpha will full-fill these customers desire, as it looks promising and practical addition to Yamaha’s scooter line.
