Volvo XC60 Crossover SUV launched with a new D3 diesel engine

Volvo XC60 Crossover SUV

The 2012 model of Volvo XC60 Crossover SUV will be offered with a new D3 diesel engine. Considering high prices of petrol, this diesel model is expected to attract a lot of demand, especially since it comes with a new reduced price as well. Prices will be in the range of Rs 34.4 lakhs for the base model, with the top end model retailing for Rs 37.4 lakhs.

New Volvo XC60 will have a three cylinder turbo diesel engine, generating 163 Bhp power and 400 Nm torque, offering six speed automatic transmission and an all wheel drive system. The new SUV will offer competition to Audi Q5 and BMW X3 though not on the price factor as the XC60 is priced way below despite the fact that it is imported into India as a completely built unit and subject to various taxes and levies.

Both BMW X3 and Audi Q5 are assembled locally and brought in as completely knocked down kits. Despite the price factor, Volvo sales in India will face some complexity due to the fact that the company has only 7 sales and service stations across the country.
