Volkswagen India plans to launch the Volkswagen CrossPolo in the Indian car market. The Volkswagen CrossPolo is a muscular version of the Polo hatch back, with a body kit that allows the car to have a look of a crossover. Chunky cladding and roof rails will complete this crossover looks. Knowing the Indian customer’s fondness for off-roader appearances, this design should spell success for the manufacturer as Volkswagen will also be using taller 17 inch wheels to boost the ride height by upto 15mm, giving the CrossPolo plenty of ground clearance to travel on the Indian roads.

The CrossPolo will be featuring a 1.5 liter four-cylinder diesel engine, which is made for India. This diesel engine is expected to produce more power and torque than the 1.2 Liter TDI unit and this should give the CrossPolo some brisk performance. The CNG kit could make an appearance on the CrossPolo, giving this raised hatchback variant good fuel economy. If Volkswagen prices the CrossPolo cleverly and packs it with enough kit, it could crack open an interesting niche.

The launch date of the CrossPolo is not confirmed yet. As the SUV market in India is in demand, the CrossPolo could find plenty of buyers for its higher ground clearance and butch looks.
