28 women cram into a new Mini Cooper

A TEAM of gym members has broken two world records for the amount of people squeezed into both a classic Mini and a current shape version.

At Potters Fields Park in London 28 flexible young women shimmied their way into a 2012 Mini hatchback, four of them somehow managing to fit together in the boot. Every inch of space was used, including the foot wells, the dashboard and the gap between the front seats on the way to beating the previous record of 27 – set by the same women last year in Eastbourne.

After a brief celebration having beaten one record, the East Sussex team dashed over to the ITV studios where they attempted the second record live on This Morning. They succeeded, cramming 23 people into an original Mini and beating the prior record by two.

The event was staged as part of Guinness World Records Day, a self-promotional event that commemorates the day in 2004 when the famous chronicle of world records became the world’s best-selling copyright book.

An estimated 400,000 people around the world used this year’s Guinness World Records Day to attempt to break records and get their names into next year’s book.
