Polaris Industries, the American firm known for its ATV`s is exploring the opportunities to launch its high end motorcycle brand, Victory in India. Victory Motorcycles was established in 1998 in Minnesota and specializes in cruisers and tourers. The range starts at $12,499 (around Rs. 6.7 lakhs) in the US (for the Victory Vegas 8-Ball). The other noteworthy models include Jackpot and Broadwalk.

The motorcycle maker also does custom bikes and in short, Victory is a direct rival of Harley Davidson albeit without a long history. Financial Express reports that Polaris is set to launch the Victory brand in late 2013.
Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director and country head of Polaris India said: “Yes we have decided to launch in the market by the end of 2013“. However, he refused to throw light on the retail strategy to be adopted or the prices targeted. By 2017-18, the company aims to do business of Rs 500 crore, Dubey said.
Victory Motorcycles could bring in its cruisers to compete with the likes of Harley Davidsons. It would be challenging for the brand to take on HD in India since it has a local assembly unit to take advantage of tax benefits.
Would you buy a Victory cruiser, say a Vegas 8-Ball over a Harley Street Bob or Super Glide?
