TVS to celebrate 1 million Apache’s with a unique Apache, no refresh model in the pipeline

On the 1st of this-month, TVS Motors dropped a teaser image of the Apache RTR on the TVS Apache Facebook page with a screaming teaser ‘THE DAY OF THE DARK KNIGHT’. We speculated it to be the all-new 2013 model of TVS Apache RTR. But now the folks at Overdrive have confirmed with the company that there is no Apache refresh offering in the short term and that the Facebook promo is a teaser for something else.

What is the teaser image about then? Hosur-based, TVS Motors are celebrating a rare milestone. They have sold 1 million units of their Apache motorcycle till date. In order to celebrate this occasion, TVS has announced a new unique Apache bike. Yes, TVS will launch either a limited edition or special edition of 160 and 180 RTR motorcycles that celebrate and mark the arrival of the millionth RTR motorcycle.

So far, two teaser images have been released on the TVS Apache Facebook page: “The beast seeks a new skin”. While another teaser says: “The day of the dark knight”. Much suspense in what the actual bike will look like, as one of the teaser image shows discarded parts of the current-model including engine cowl, tank shrouds and front cowl. While another teaser shows a set of new grab rails.

This makes us believe, the new unique TVS Apache which celebrates the 1 million production milestone, will not feature a major design change, instead comes with a similar body panels to the current-model. The changes speculated are minimal with re-styled engine cowl and front cowl. The tank shrouds are likely to be borrowed from the outgoing-model with new design decals. And, as seen will feature a distinctive grab rail cluster.

The beast seeks a new skin. Will it be yours?

Furthermore, expect it to get a new and unique color combination with a new graphics and one million badge to set it apart from the regular models. Being released with a new skin suggests that the upcoming TVS Apache RTR will receive the same mechanical hardware as compared to its earlier counterpart. The pricing is expected to be similar for the limited edition or special edition motorcycles, when launched.
