TVS Motors promised to launch bigger RTR’s by 2014-15

South India based two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS Motor after losing the top third position in the Indian two-wheeler market, is now striving hard to regain its position. According to the fresh reports, TVS is planning to roll-out a number of new products in the Indian market to compete more promptly with the rivals. The company plans to invest Rs 300-400 crore on producing new models and to refresh the existing ones.

Sources also informed that TVS Company’s engineers are working on two ground-up engine and product platforms. TVS will roll out 6-new products, including bigger bikes in the 200-250 cc categories. These products are likely to get to market in 2014-15. However, TVS Motors has not revealed the engine specs. But taken into consideration, the carbon emissions, and thus the bigger performance-oriented engines will meet Euro V emission norms.

While the new products would take almost 18 months to hit the market, currently TVS Motor Company has other products in the line-up. The new125cc motorcycle is expected to hit the showrooms by July or August 2012, probably the Radeon. Also, the Victor brand is expected to make re-launch the by end this-year. Other offering, include the 110cc Wego automatic scooter will adopt 4 new shades in metallic finishes and with a disc brake.

TVS will also test market a hybrid scooter called the ‘Qube’ to gauge market reaction to this all new segment of two wheelers. This scooter was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo held in Delhi and is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 55,000. Therefore, the folks at TVS’R&D division are busy working on new products.

Speaking on the development, president NPI, TVS Motor Company, Mr. Vinay Harne, said –

“Currently we produce only up to 180 cc and below and we will be entering the bigger bike segment. There is a trend of moving towards bigger bikes; while the numbers are small, the growth is quite high. We have done a lot of things to reduce costs-used cost-effective material, reduced weight, adopted a low-cost manufacturing process, and the whole controller is locally developed.”
