TVS Jupiter ZX variant introduced, no disc brake on offer

TVS is aiming very, very high indeed with its extremely successful product, the TVS Jupiter. The company has clocked the fastest 5 lakh sales within two years of its launch. In July-2015, the Jupiter was the second highest-selling scooter after the Honda Activa, sold over 43,000 units and beating the Hero Maestro in sales.

The Jupiter is no doubt, the TVS Motors best-seller and to keep the momentum running the company has introduced a spruced-up variant of the Jupiter which it excitedly calls the ‘Jupter ZX’. This is positioned as the high-end variant and costs Rs. 2,000 extra over the standard version. The ZX variant gets some extra features and 2 new colour options – Stallion Brown and Matte Blue.

Earlier rumours suggested that the Jupiter ZX will feature an optional front disc brake, however, there is no such option with it. Rather it is a same special edition model launched in January-2015, to mark the 1st anniversary of the TVS Jupiter. It ditches the special edition badge on the front panel, instead gets a new ‘ZX’ badging on the side panels, additionally a new Matte Blue colour is on offer.

Feature-wise, the Jupiter ZX comes equipped with a beige inner panels and stylish Brown ‘Dura Cool’ seat, which the company claims that the new seat temperature lower by 10-degrees when parked under direct sunlight, compared to a normal seat. Now that’s something really cool! Other features and specifications of the ZX version are similar to the standard one.

Mechanically, there are no changes to this scooter and continues to be powered by the same single-cylinder, 110cc, air-cooled engine, paired to a CVT transmission. This engine churns-out 8bhp at 7500rpm and maximum torque of 8Nm at 5500rpm. It claims to deliver an excellent acceleration of 0-60 in just 11.2 seconds and return a fuel economy of up to 62kmpl.

The Jupiter on-board features a twin pilot lamps, LED tail lamp, 3D logos, stainless steel muffler cover, easy accessible kick and electric start, pass-by switch, key shutter lock, low fuel indicator, dual-side handle lock, parking brake, external fuel fill, retractable bag hooks, mobile charger and E-Z centre stand. Jupiter also comes with a telescopic suspension in the front and gas filled suspension at the rear.

The TVS Jupiter ZX variant is priced at Rs. 50,012/-, while the regular Jupiter is priced at Rs. 47,989/- (both prices are of ex-showroom Delhi).
