Crossovers and compact SUV’s are taking the world by storm, and not wanting to be left out of the action is Toyota. After being spotted undergoing testing many times, Toyota has now officially unveiled the Etios Cross in Brazil. The Toyota Etios Cross is basically a top of the line Toyota Etios hatch back with rugged, beefier body panels coated in matte black plastic, an additional bumper with a skid plate attached to it, redesigned diamond cut wheels and heightened suspension. Other cosmetic changes include silver coloured roof rails and ‘Etios Cross’ badging on the tailgate.
Since the Etios Cross is based on the top-end Etios XLS model, it gets all features of the XLS, some of which are, a black centre console, steering mounted audio controls, airbags and ABS. The only way to differentiate the cross from the XLS is the ‘Etios Cross’ badging which is stitched on to the fabrics inside the cabin.
The Etios Cross will be powered by the same 1.5-litre Flex-Fuel engine, putting out 96.5 BHP. After poor sales performance of the Etios range in Brazil, now Toyota is finally pinning their hopes on the Etios Cross to revive sales. The Cross is priced in Brazil at 45,690 Reals which is the equivalent of INR 12.36 lakhs.
