Tata Motors working on 6 all-new products, including Baleno-Rival

According to an Overdrive magazine, Tata Motors is working on six new products apart from the ones that were showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo that includes the Kite5, Nexon and Hexa.

The first of the product will be a premium hatchback codenamed X451, which will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo. It will be based on Tata’s new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) and will share design cues from the upcoming Tata Nexon.

The X451 will get a sweptback headlamp with projector elements, sleek grille with humanity line, low-mounted foglights with integrated LED daytime running light elements, a low-slung profile and the sloping roof downwards towards the rear. The interior too will sport styling cues from the Nexon’s multi-layered design with the premium material.

A mid-size sedan will be developed based on the same platform that will compete with the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. The X451 based sedan will not only fill the gap that the Manza left in the Tata’s portfolio but will also emerge as a Tata’s dream of a entering an premium sedan which was previewed by the Pininfarina designed Pr1ma concept based on the Tata Indigo’s wheelbase at Geneva Motor Show in 2009.

Apart from the X451 premium hatchback and the X451 mid-size sedan, Tata Motors is also working on a pair of MPVs codenamed X601 (Sumo replacement) and X602 (Movus replacement) in addition to a Land Rover Freelander 2 based premium SUVs codenamed Q501 (5-seater) and Q502 (7-seater) that is destined to take on the likes of the XUV500, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.

The all-new six products are expected to roll-out in between 2018 to 2020, thus, there will be variety of passenger cars to watch-out at Tata’s pavilion at 2018 Indian Auto Expo.
