Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) have launched their first mass-market motorcycle, named Honda Dream Yuga for the Indian market. This 110cc motorcycle has been positioned slightly below the CB Twister motorcycle which is available priced at Rs. 44,642 (ex-showroom Delhi). HMSI is trying its level best to gun straight for Hero’s jugular, as it aims to become the India’s top two wheeler maker by 2020. While this is the important move taken by Honda that will sharply target at Hero MotoCorp’s bread and butter commuter motorcycle segment with the Honda Dream Yuga 110cc motorcycle that was first unveiled at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Currently, Honda is now a market leader in the Indian automatic scooter segment by a considerable margin and has been the country’s third largest 2-wheeler manufacturer next to Bajaj Auto. The company is now striving hard to target no. 2 spot. Styling isn’t very different from the Shine and it boasts features like a self-starter, alloy wheels, long seat, full chain cover and tubeless tyres (first in the segment) as options. Apart from this, it has maintenance free battery and vicious air filter similar to Honda CB Twister. Honda Dream Yuga is powered by a 4-stroke, air cooled, 109cc engine which generates maximum power of 9 bhp@8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 9Nm @ 6000 rpm. It comes with 4 speed transmission and self start as an option.
