Suzuki Gixxer 150 – open for bookings in India, launch in early-July!

Our good friends at IndianAutosBlog reveal, Suzuki Motorcycles India is all-set to launch the Gixxer 150cc motorcycle aimed at the youngsters. While the Gixxer 150 was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the company remained tight-lipped about its launch. A game-changer offering, the Gixxer 150 will be at the dealerships in the first week of July.

Meanwhile, the dealers across the country have begun accepting the bookings for the Suzuki Gixxer 150 at a token amount of just Rs. 5000. As soon as the bike is in the showroom, the deliveries will also commence. The motorcycle is expected to replace the aging GS150R in the 150cc entry-level sportsbike segment, with the aim of refreshing the monotonous bike portfolio of Suzuki in India.

The company claims that the new stiff and light frame will aid the bike’s riding characteristics as well as performance. The Gixxer gets a monoshock and drum brake at the rear while the front wheel gets a telescopic shocks and a disc brake. The short and trendy exhaust has borrowed design cues from Suzuki GSX-R. Initially, the Gixxer 150 will be available in two paint schemes – Red and Blue.

Under the skin, the Gixxer 150 will use a 150cc engine that will produce a peak power of 13.9 PS and a peak torque of 13.4 Nm, mated to a five-speed gearbox. Although the company hasn’t revealed the performance figures of the engine, it is speculated to be very similar to the GSR150, furthermore, the Gixxer will come equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) which is expected to improve the bike’s efficiency.

Suzuki Gixxer 150 would be priced similar to the Bajaj Pulsar and the Yamaha FZ. The Gixxer brings to the game, a few standout features to attract potential buyers. This includes the large, all-digital information display, a rear mono-shock suspension, a sporty twin-outlet exhaust and wide 140/60 rear tyre. The Gixxer seems to be the first attempt in the same, and going by the initial impressions, it seems that Suzuki has finally woken up from the sleep.
