Recently the facelifted Toyota Fortuner SUV was launched in Indonesian market. However automatic gearbox was still missing from the model. Now facelifted Toyota Fortuner with AUTOMATIC gearbox has been caught doing the testing rounds in the country’s capital of New Delhi. It is expected to be showcased at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo following a launch in the country.
The new Fortuner will also be available with the much awaited AUTOMATIC gear box but with the same 3.0 liter D-4D diesel engine generating 170 Bhp of power and 343 Nm of torque is expected to continue in the facelift, other facial changes include new headlights, new tail lamps, fresh bumpers and refreshed grille with a big dollop of chrome. With this the Fortuner seems to have a flatter front end which takes away some of the hurried aspect out of the big animal like SUV from Toyota.
Toyota has played with the interiors also because a bit gloomy interiors were making Toyota Innova a better purchase for SUV segment. So a touch screen multimedia interface is added in the cabin. Sources claim that Toyota can launch a 4X2 version of Toyota Fortuner but this can raise the price of SUV. As it is, the only con with a purchase of Toyota Fortuner is its high price i.e. Rs 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Currently, Toyota Fortuner offers a mileage of 7 kmpl in city and 11 kmpl on highway. Gradually with a 4X2 wheel drive, Toyota Fortuner will be able to improve its mileage on Indian roads.
