Spied – Nissan Evalia MPV dropped camouflage in Chennai

Nissan Evalia MPV

Nissan India first unveiled the Evalia MPV earlier this year at the 2012 Auto Expo that was held in Delhi. Since then the MPV has been spied no. of times in different locations in India with heavy camouflage. But recently the upcoming Nissan Evalia MPV spotted literally with no camouflage but badges taped, thanks to AutoCarIndia reader Karthik from Chennai for the snaps. The snapped image suggest that this neoteric MPV has been designed and styled as a tall car with upward stance.

The Evalia boasts narrow front doors and sliding rear doors; the front end features a short bonnet, saw-toothed grille and uniquely designed headlamps. From the spy pictures, it reveals that the Evalia will come with dual-tone interiors, while the steering-wheel is borrowed from the Sunny and Micra omitting the mounted audio-controls. However, it will get power windows and a basic radio/CD player and manual-controls for the A/C.

It is built on Nissan’s famous B-platform and is a seven-seater multi purpose vehicle that follows the 2+3+2 configuration. Powering the Evalia MPV is the 1.5 liter dCi turbocharged diesel engine that is also doing duty in some other significant cars including the diesel version of Nissan Sunny sedan.

Nissan India is gearing up for the launch of Evalia MPV which is scheduled for the coming months. We expect the Evalia MPV to place in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, its latest counterpart Maruti Ertiga has been priced aggressively at a starting price of Rs 5.88 lakh (ex-showroom price) and one of the other anticipated MPV from Chevrolet, the Enjoy is also expected to join the band wagon soon.
