SPIED: Rear image of Maruti Suzuki YBA compact SUV – might get 1.5-litre diesel, AWD

This is a car Maruti needs, to compete with the Ford EcoSport, which means it will have a length of less than four metres. The long overdue compact SUV will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 and it could be called ‘Maruti iV4’.

Earlier this week, the firstever spy picture of the upcoming YBA compact SUV had been put up on the internet. Today we have another image of the car, this time of the rear portion. Although nothing much can be divulged from this picture, we can see the rear windscreen with a single wiper, roof-mounted rear spoiler and bumper with a silver skid plate and reflectors at both ends.

The folks at AutoCarIndia say that Maruti will provide a tail gate-mounted spare wheel for the YBA. Furthermore, they reveal there is chance that it may abandon the trusted 1.3-litre Multijet for a brand new 1.5-litre diesel engine, also sourced from Fiat. This motor is essentially a downsized version of the company’s current 1.6 JTD engine, and is expected to produce over 100bhp.

The YBA could also be equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel drive system, which will give it an advantage over the front-wheel drive only Ford EcoSport. Regardless of the time frame, we are sure that the Maruti Suzuki YBA compact SUV will be a huge success when launched as Maruti is known for providing good products at an unthinkable price which attracts scores of customers.
