These are the first pictures of a Maruti R3 caught without a piece of camouflage, Thanks to CarWale.com/AutoBild for clicking the image from every angle that reveals the car completely. While the concept was a swanky looking thing, the production car has lost quite a bit of glamour. The design has been toned down to match production specs and costs and now the RIII looks more real.

Previously we said the R3 will be available in four variant – VXi, VDi, ZXi and ZDi. Now the LXi variant has been spotted, which hints the LDi variant also available. Totally R3 will have 6 variants with 2 engine options, that it will be available in petrol and as well as diesel variants.

The production model will not be called R3. The R3 will boast of features like steering-mounted audio controls, CD player and power windows. Gear lever, door locks, steering wheel, dashboard, plastic door trim, arm rest, rear view mirror and the hand brake have been stolen from the new Swift’s inventory.

The LXi variant of the R3 thankfully gets both side rear view mirrors but Maruti Suzuki does not plan to offer body colored mirrors or door handles. Furthermore, there are no half wheel covers or fog lamps either. There is an intergrated rear spoiler with stop lamp though and we expect the R3 range to start at Rs. 8 lakhs, when it goes on sale later this year.

What does Maruti have on its mind? Will it shock everyone with a Diwali release? Or will it bring it to Auto Expo 2012, the same stage where the concept avatar was unveiled two years ago?
