From the high quality images that we see on the seen on the internet, the German car maker looks like it’s almost ready with the facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-class, which is to be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January. Looking at the released images, the most noticeable difference is the front end of the car. The headlamps on either side have been coupled into single units with dual all-day running LED light. This was featured on the E Class for the past 3 generation now. The rear headlamps have also been slightly re-designed and the bumper is more sculpted lessening its otherwise sharp edges. Apart from the cosmetic changes, even the sheet metal has been altered to a certain extend. It also sports a black panoramic roof just like how it is in the new C-Class. Its front-grille looks bigger and the front fascia looks similar to the S-Class. Now as for the interiors, the car’s got a revised instrument panel with a stylish new steering wheel which looks sportier. The seats and cabin have been given softer materials making it feel more comfortable and pleasing. As for the specs, the powertrains are likely to remain the same with the E350’s 3.0-litre, V6 petrol and Bluetec turbo-diesel engines, the E550’s 4.7-litre V8 and also the powerful E63 AMG’s 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8. This facelift was very important for Mercedes-Benz who faces stiff competition from BMW’s 5-Series and the Audi’s A6, where these competitors are gaining more numbers comparatively.   Checkout more pictures below the jump.   Also see - Teaser video of 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift released
