Spied – 2011 Tata Safari Merlin again near Pune (Video)

Spied – 2011 Tata Safari Merlin in Pune

As we reported earlier, 2011 Tata Safari replacement (internally known as Safari 18) will be called the Tata Merlin. It has something to do with the fact that it had to be developed in 18 months. Now IndianAutosblog reader Suraj Vibhute spotted the new Tata Safari Merlin again near Nigdi, Pune draped in camouflage. The Tata Merlin is the next generation of the Safari with the addition of dual mass flywheel to the current 2.2 DICOR engine.

Tata Safari Merlin could feature a slight exterior upgrade (new lamps et all), better quality plastics in the interior, improved air conditioning, improved gearbox and better ride quality. The engine, gearbox and alloy wheels which will feature on the Merlin are already doing duty on the recently launched Aria.

Tata is yet to decide if the Merlin has to replace the existing car or sit above it. Believe it or not, at the moment it looks like we won’t see it till the Auto Expo next year. Now watch the video below the jump.
