Skoda Auto, the Czech Republic based car maker, announced that they are going to launch small car in India by next year. This new skoda small car would be launched in entry level segment and probable to mark with price tag between Rs 300000 to Rs 500000/-. Skoda’s entry level car will be positioned below Fabia hatch. The Skoda Auto has all set to slice and dice its fellows namely Hyundai Santro Xing, Maruti Wagon R and A-Star and Chevrolet Spark and will reckoning on to boost its position to lead.

According to the company, the new small car will be launched by year 2013. The new car will be offered in both diesel and petrol versions and is expected to be offering a considerably high mileage. The company is planning to start selling the Laura S (Octavia) in August following the Skoda Rapid (Fabia Sedan) in the Q1 2012, Fabia Scout and Mini SUV. Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Marketing Head, Skoda India, said that the company’s proposed small car will be up to 70 percent locally sourced, helping the company in keeping the price of the car highly competitive. The car will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune.
