While the next-generation Octavia is launched in UK & other markets, Skoda India has recently introduced the optional 7-speed DSG gearbox to the 160PS TSI petrol motor of the Laura. Available in the Ambition trim, the automatic Laura is priced at Rs 16.05 lakh (ex-showroom), approximately lakh more than the similarly equipped 6-speed manual.

Skoda has updated the Laura TSI auto with 16-inch alloys which is missing on the manual petrol version and a fatter section of rubber( 205/55) as compared to the manual variant’s 195/65. The interiors and other features have remained the same as the manual Laura TSI Ambition.

Surprisingly, the Laura with the DSG-powered Laura TSI automatic proves to be more fuel efficient than its manual variant, something that is rare. While the Manual Laura claims to return 13.4kmpl, the 7-speed DSG-Equipped Laura TSI offers an impressive 14.6kmpl of mileage. It is also being expected to be quicker than the manual variant due to its twin clutch 7-speed DSG gear box.

In the diesel portfolio, there are no changes and Skoda India is offering the Laura with a choice of two diesel engines fitted with 5-speed manual (110PS) and 6-speed automatic (140PS) transmissions.
