Royal Enfield Himalayan 410cc launched, not on-sale in Delhi – Priced Rs. 1.55 lakh

The production-spec Royal Enfield Himalayan has been caught testing on quite a few number of occasions. The new Himalayan was first showcased a day ahead of the 2016 Auto Expo event in New Delhi last-month. Today launched this much-awaited adventure tourer bike Himalayan at an price of Rs 1,55,545 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

The booking for Himalayan begins from tomorrow and deliveries will commence from the end of this month. The company has discharged the launch of Himalayan in Delhi due to emission norms which the Delhi Transport Department isn’t permitting the registration for this model. However, the interested buyers can see the motorcycle at the nearest outlet, but no test rides will be given.

Coming back to the Himalayan, it is positioned between the Classic 350 and the Classic 500 in Royal Enfield’s line-up. The Himalayan is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This unit produces 24.5bhp at 6500rpm and peak torque of 32Nm at 4000-4500rpm. The engine is fuelled by a carburettor that is equipped with a throttle position sensor. A fuel-injected variant may be introduced at a later stage.

The major highlight of the motorcycle is a new analogue-digital mix instrument cluster. Analogue dials for the speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge are combined with a digital compass, and an MID which displays data such as the temperature, time, odometer and two trip meters. The brakes can support ABS, but Royal Enfield isn’t offering the option just yet.

Measuring 2,190 mm in length, 840 mm in width, 1,360 mm in height, 1,465 mm in wheelbase, 220 mm in ground clearance, 800 mm in saddle height, 182 kg in kerb weight and 15 litres in fuel tank capacity. A total of 2 colours are on offer – Snow White and Granite Black. The Himalayan is offered with a lot of accessories like saddle bags, side mounts, windshields and many other off-road accessories.
