BMW India gears up to launch the all new F30 generation 3-Series in India. What could be more exciting than having Indian cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar as a brand ambassador! According to the company sources, the legend Sachin Tendulkar is soon to be signed as the first ever brand ambassador for the Bavarian brand. The deal is likely to go through ahead of the launch of the new 3-Series that is slated for 27th July 2012. And Sachin is likely to hand over the keys to the first 100 customers of the new 3-series as a symbolic gesture to commemorate his record of hitting a 100 centuries.
Now, Sachin Tendulkar is known for his love for cars. His ‘second love’ after the game of cricket is fast cars. Over the years, Sachin has owned a number of high-end cars of which his Ferrari 360 Modena, which features in the Bollywood, Ferrari Ki Sawari is the most well-known. BMWs have also been a part of his extensive garage. He has owned a previous-generation (E60) M5 as well as an X5 for regular use whilst wife Anjali currently uses an E90 3-series.
For Sachin this is not the first prominent brand that he is being associated with wide range of brands, ranging from colas to automobiles. Coming to automobile, Sachin Tendulkar was a brand ambassador for TVS Motors with the master blaster endorsing the TVS Victor 110 commuter motorcycle (2002-05). When it comes to cars, Fiat was the brand Tendulkar used to endorse, with the Italian car maker even launching the Palio (2001-03), a hatchback replete with Sachin Tendulkar’s signature on the bonnet. Fiat even gifted Tendulkar a Ferrari 360 Modena. He is one of the favorite celebrity for marketers because of his clean ‘controversy-free’ image and also because he is an icon like none other for India and also for the rest of the world.
