Currently, the Kwid only comes powered by a 0.8-litre three-cylinder petrol unit that makes a humble 53 hp at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm of torque at 4,386 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and can achieve an ARAI certified figure of 25.17 kmpl. The company has plans on launching a 1.0-litre petrol engine version mated 5-speed manual gearbox as well as the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Right car, right market, right price – the only thing that remains to be seen now is whether it has the long term issue.
