Renault Kwid 1.0L AMT launched, priced Rs. 30k more than MT

Renault India launched the Kwid 1.0L AMT in the country at a price of Rs. 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available only in the top-end RxT (O) variant on the 1.0-litre model, the price translates to Rs. 30,000 more than the corresponding manual variant.

First displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Kwid 1.0L AMT uses a 5-speed Easy-R gearbox that is coupled to a 1.0-litre SCe petrol engine that develops 67 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm @ 4,250 rpm. It delivers a company claimed fuel efficiency of 24.04 KMPL that is greater than the manual variant’s 23.01 KMPL figure.

Surprisingly, the Kwid 1.0L AMT doesn’t get a conventional gear lever as seen in other AMT cars in the market. Instead, a circular dial located beside the window controls on the center console can be rotated toggle between three gear options: Reverse, Neutral and Drive. This means you should completely rely on its electronics to serve up the next gear.

There are no changes to the equipment list. Based on the top-end RxT (O) trim, the Kwid 1.0L AMT features a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and fully digital instrument cluster. Safety kits include front ‘Pro-Sense’ seat-belt pre-tensioners, driver’s airbag and remote central locking.

The Kwid 1.0L AMT’s direct rival is the Maruti Alto K10 AMT, which comes priced at Rs. 4.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
