The fastest, most powerful Land Rover ever built the Range Rover Sport SVR is now on-sale in India, priced at Rs 2.12 crore (ex-showroom).
A performance-focused chassis enabled the SVR to complete a lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes 14 seconds, a record for an SUV around the Green Hell. It sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds before reaching its electronically-limited top speed of 260 kmph. The Range Rover Sport SVR competes direct with the likes of Mercedes-AMG ML63 and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
The RRS SVR is powered by an uprated version of the AJ-V8 Gen III 5.0-litre supercharged V8 offering 550 PS and 680 Nm, 40 PS and 56 Nm more than the regular Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Power is sent to all-four-wheels through a revised ZF-supplied eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be controlled by steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters or the gearstick.
The SVR’s engine is also found in some of Jaguar’s most potent models, including the F-type R Coupé and XFR-S saloon.
Despite the performance credentials, the Range Rover Sport SVR is still a Land Rover, and has to be able to make its mark off-road. However compared to the regular Range Rover Sports, the SVR can be easily distinguished by a series of design changes.
