Piaggio is planning to introduce the Vespa LX125 very soon in the Indian two-wheeler market. According to reports, the launch of the Vespa LX125 will happen on the 26th of April, 2012. The Piaggio Vespa LX125 will be an automatic transmission vehicle. This is the very first occasion when a Vespa product will be introduced with the brand name of Piaggio.  Piaggio was the parent company of Vespa before the two split. Earlier, scooters from the Vespa were launched in the Indian market through a joint collaboration with Bajaj India, but this is going to change with the launch of the Vespa LX125 scooter. The manufacturing of Vespa LX125 scooter is being carried out by Piaggio at the company’s Baramati plant located in Maharashtra, India.

The stylish scooter is being promoted as a lifestyle product to attract the largest segment of buyers and it has all the capabilities and specifications to stand-by its claimed qualities. As far as specifications are concerned, the Vespa LX125 comes with an impressive 125cc engine. This 4-stroke engine is air cooled. This engine has the capability of providing a maximum power of 10.7 bhp and a torque of 10 NM. It is further expected to be fuel injected.

If Piaggio plans and implements its strategy wisely, then the Vespa LX125 scooter could turn out to be the leading scooter in the targeted segment. As far as pricing is concerned the Vespa will cost somewhere in the range of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 55,000. Further, being promoted as a lifestyle product, the scooter is bound to be introduced with a wide range of accessories. Piaggio Vespa LX125 is going to be introduced with a lot of expectations in terms of leading the market in its segments. Having said that, it remains to be seen how the buyers respond to it, given the fact that the price fixed by the company is slightly on the higher side.
