Official – Skoda Laura RS launch on 31st August

Skoda Laura RS

Skoda India has officially confirmed the launch of the Laura RS for the 31st of August, 2011. The Laura RS will be powered by 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This is the same engine which is used for the Laura petrol, will generate 160 bhp and 250 Nm torque which is enough to take the new Skoda car to a top speed on 230 kmph. The engine will be mated with a 6 speed MT.

The Laura RS will feature the styling and bits from the RS versions. For starters there is the body kit, day time running lights and big wheels, while the complete black interior features a 3-spoke steering wheel and sports seats. The Laura RS has a stiffer suspension and along with bigger wheels and wider tyres is sharper handling as well.

The original plan was to get the 2.0-litre 200bhp TSI engine, but Skoda decided to play it safe and has changed the plan to launch the 1.8-litre petrol turbocharged engine. Prices of the Laura RS will be around Rs. 80,000/- more than the regular Laura. Skoda really won’t be selling many units of the Laura RS as it is powered by a petrol engine in this incremental fuel price age.
