Nissan’s Duster to be launched by Diwali 2013

2013 Nissan Duster

Renault Duster has been India’s biggest success till date in the Indian car market, and alliance partner Nissan wants a share of this success too. Nissan will be launching the rebadged version of the Duster in October 2013, coinciding with the auspicious time of Dussehra and Diwali. The Nissan Duster, codenamed NH79, is only a cosmetic makeover of the successful Renault version, underneath it will remain the same.

Usually, Nissan launches their mass market cars first of which Renault then produces its own version, but this time, the roles have been reversed.

We expect the price tag to remain the same or slightly lower than the Renault version . Nissan could use the 4WD technology, and maybe try a diesel AT variant, to differentiate itself from the Renault version. The compact SUV is likely to do better than its French sibling as it could be cheaper and the fact that Nissan is more popular in the country.
