The most anticipated motorcycle launch of the year 2012 is undoubtedly, the launch of Next-gen Bajaj Pulsar. While lot of rumours and computer generated images of the upcoming pulsar has been wondering in the internet for quite some-time now.  Now, there is a strong news of the new Bajaj Pulsar being all set to receive the base motor of the KTM Duke 200 along with re-worked mechanicals, state of tune and gearbox. This simply translates into a possibility of a 6 speed tranny being offered on the Bajaj Pulsar 200.

However, there is also a chance of the liquid cooled cylinder being dumped in favour of an air-cooled block. But going by the obvious (for a new Pulsar) and the competition is getting more aggressive the engine should sustain the four valves per cylinder and DOHC layout. The suspension on the next gen Pulsar could also be de-speced from the Duke’s USD and monoshock units to a more conventional double down-tubes up front and dual shocks at the rear. Overdrive magazine are carrying this information in their latest story about the KTM Duke 200, which was given to select members of the automotive media in a PR exercise by Bajaj a few days ago.

The article on Overdrive also mentions that the next generation Bajaj Pulsar 200 could be priced at about INR 90,000. All of this actually makes a bunch of sense considering the fact that the Bajaj Pulsar 200 could turn out to be the flagship Bajaj offering, which still managing to keep an unique brand identity, independent of the KTM Duke 200, a motorcycle with which the Pulsar 200 could share a lot of similarities.

All said, it is mixture of various forms of pulsars and KTM. Next-generation pulsars spotted at Akurdi near Bajaj plant recently, hints at a launch date in early 2012. The pricing of the Bajaj Pulsar 200 will differentiate the KTM Duke 200 price of over a Lakh, the Bajaj Pulsar 200 could be priced below a Lakh, making it the affordable performance motorcycle for the masses with the KTM Duke 200 retaining its niche appeal and branding. Let’s hope for the best.
