New Maruti Ritz - 001

Maruti Suzuki has just launched the most awaited hatchback of the year, the new Ritz. While it looks similar to outgoing model, it has 52 changes over the previous version including 3 new colors, and a new top-end ZDi variant added to its line-up. Initially, the new Ritz has been launched only with diesel engine option and comes in 4 different trim levels, LDi, VDi, VDi with ABS and ZDi.

Some of the 52 changes on new Ritz include new front grille, body side moulding, new audio system with USB, dual tone red interiors, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, day and night inside rear view mirror, improved rear seating and rear spoiler. The Ritz ZDi gets features such as dual airbags, ABS, alloy wheels and steering mounted audio controls.

The interiors also receives some minor updates, and the rear seats get better lumbar support with a dual-tone interior shade on the VDi and ZDi variants. The company has also added three new colours to the car namely breeze blue, mystique red and granite grey. Three colours from before have been carried over which include bakers chocolate, silky silver and superior white

New Maruti Ritz - 002

Under the hood, the Ritz gets the familiar 1.3-litre DDiS powerplant. But the high-point of the new Ritz is the 10% improvement in fuel efficiency which has resulted to an efficiency of 23.2kmpl (Certified fuel efficiency as per CMVR Rule 115) from a 21.1kmpl. The engineers at Maruti were able to achieve this fuel efficiency with calibration optimization and by reducing losses in the engine due to friction, without altering the 75PS and 190Nm power and torque figures respectively. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the vehicle reach 60 km/h from standstill in 5.9 seconds.

We have been constantly reporting about the upcoming Mahindra’s upcoming mini-Xylo MPV named ‘Quanto’ and we were the first to snap the clearest spy pictures of mini-Xylo from almost all angles, just like a test review. Now we bring you the big news for which everybody was waiting, Mahindra Quanto compact SUV has been finally rolled out here in Mumbai at a starting price of Rs 5.82 lakh, going up to Rs 7.36 lakh for the top-end variant. The word ‘Quanto’ is derived from the word ‘Quantum’ which means more. So in the case of Quanto, Mahindra conveys more power...more seats...more space... & more fun... The Quanto is the first sub-4 meter yet a 7-seater (5 adults + 2 jump seats) although the last two seats are strictly for kids. Also, there is almost no luggage space with seven passengers on-board. In terms of looks the ‘Quanto’ looks much better and proportionate in comparison to its elder sibling ‘Xylo’. The Quanto comes available in four variants namely C2, C4, C6 and C8. The top-of-the-variant ‘C8’ of Mahindra Quanto comes with host of comfort, styling and safety features like ABS, dual SRS airbags, reverse parking sensors, power steering, power windows, AC, tinted class, rear washer plus wiper, rear defogger, 2DIN music system, electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, remote central locking, mobile charging points, front fog lamps, digital drive assist system, sun visors, alloy wheels, body coloured bumpers, grille and door handles. The interiors of Quanto are same like Xylo with similar design for the center console, steering wheel, door pads and similar buttons to control the AC and power windows. To price the base variant (C2) aggressively Mahindra has to do away with lots of features like remote central locking, power windows, front fog lamps, music system, rear defogger, digital drive assist system, body coloured bumpers, rear defogger, wheels covers and tinted glass.   6 Shades available in Mahindra Quanto - Fiery Black Java Brown Mist Silver Toreador Red Diamond White Rocky Beige As expected Quanto is available in only diesel, it is powered by a 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre twin-turbocharged CRDI Diesel engine mCR100 with peak power of 99 BHP @ 3750 RPM and peak torque of 240 Nm. This engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. This Quanto has a micro-hybrid start stop system which helps the car achieve an impressive mileage of 17.21 kmpl as tested by ARAI. As far as safety is concerned, the all-new MPV 'Quanto' comes fully loaded with safety features like dual front airbags, child lock on middle and rear door, front fog lamps, Intellipark reverse assist, rear washer plus wiper and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). Comparing prices of Mahindra Quanto Vs Maruti Ertiga diesel, the Quanto is much cheaper at the base variant Quanto C2 is cheaper by Ertiga LDi by Rs. 1.94 lakh and the top-end Quanto C8 is cheaper than Ertiga ZDi by Rs. 1.73 lakh which is a considerable price difference. At this price point Quanto will eat-into the sales of recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Duster and to some extent the Premier Rio. Mahindra is offering the Quanto with a 2 years/50,000km warranty as standard.   Prices of Mahindra Quanto (ex-showroom, Thane) - Mahindra Quanto C2 is priced at Rs. 5.82 lakh Mahindra Quanto C4 is priced at Rs. 6.35  lakh Mahindra Quanto C6 is priced at Rs. 6.86  lakh Mahindra Quanto C8 is priced at Rs. 7.36  lakh Mahindra Quanto (official website) - mahindraquanto.com Mahindra Qunato (official Facebook page) - facebook.com/MahindraQuanto   Checkout more pictures below the jump.   Also see - Mahindra Quanto test drive cars appear at some dealerships!   See more pictures of Mahindra Quanto Compact SUV -
