New Honda CR-V is scheduled to be launched in January-2013

BA reader know that Honda has started testing the new 2013 CR-V in India, now according to the sources the new Honda CR-V will be launched in India by January-2013. The company has already launched this fourth-generation model in Europe and US markets. Although the new CR-V is available with both petrol and diesel engines option in UK, only the petrol version will be made available in India, at least at the time of launch.

Under the hood there is a choice of 2.0-litre 148bhp i-Vtec petrol and 2.4-litre 185bhp i-Vtec petrol engines. Both engines are mated to either six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with optional AWD system.

The 2013 version of the CR-V has become shorter and lower than the predecessor, but with better packaging is bigger on the inside. Internally, space has been increased by 225mm. Its seating configuration is the same through there is more space with the rear seats split. Once launched in India, the 2013 CR-V will compete with other 7-seater SUV’s such as Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.

A word of caution here – since it’s a full-import like the exisiting model, the new CR-V won’t be cheap with an expected price tag of Rs. 28 lakh in India. This 2013 Honda CR-V was first showcased at 2012 Geneva Motor Show where it portrayed its new platform and attractive styling. New 3-bar grille and wraparound headlamp were seen on its exterior along with a new front bumper, silver skid plates and a well sculpted body. Also the signature CR-V vertical taillights were seen at the rear.
