2017 KTM Duke 390 makes world debut at EICMA Show

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 has been unveiled in full form at EICMA 2016 in Milan, Italy. The Austrian bike maker has totally redesigned, carrying the brand’s latest design language, a more power and technological advancements.

KTM’s Indian official website has already listed the all-new Duke 390 model, hinting that India will be among the first few markets to get it. Built on a lightweight trellis frame that features a bolt-on rear subframe in contrasting colours. Changes in dimension include reduced wheelbase by 10 mm to 1,357 mm, increased ground clearance by 15 mm to 185 mm and increased seat height by 30 mm to 830 mm.

Furthermore, it gets a larger fuel tank that can store 13.4 litres of petrol (up from 11 litres) and the dry weight too has been increased by 10 kg to 149 kg. Exterior-wise, it gets a sharper styling inspired from the company’s flagship naked – the Super Duke. The new Duke 390 is fitted with split LED headlights with DRLs (first-in-segment), revised split seats, side-mounted exhaust system and a new location for the ignition key.

The all-new instrument cluster comprises of a coloured TFT screen with optional ‘KTM MY RIDE’ multimedia interface, which allows your smartphone to be connected to the bike. Other noteworthy highlights include ride-by-wire, adjustable clutch and brake levers. Stopping power is handled by a new braking system developed in cooperation with Brembo. Dual channel ABS is being offered as standard equipment.

Power-wise, the 2017 Duke 390 will continue to use the same 373.2cc single-cylinder engine that produces the same 44 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. However, the engine is tuned to be more responsive, also the company has worked on the heating issue, thus, the bike will be able to cool faster, thanks to improved heat dissipation. It complies to Euro 4 emission norms and therefore will be BSIV ready when it comes to India.
