Honda India begins testing of the new 2016 Accord in India

Made its Indian debut at 2016 Auto Expo, the 9th generation Honda Accord appears to be moving forward in the right direction from show stand to showroom – spy photographers have spotted a development mule with minimal camouflage in Gurgaon.

Checking-out at Zauba, we found that Honda India has so far imported 3 test-mule of Honda Accord for homologation purposes. The import data clearly reveals that the 1 unit imported in October-2015 is a 2.4-litre petrol variants, while the rest of 2 units imported in January-2016 are a hybrid variant powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor.

Another report on the Parivahan Sewa website confirms the new Accord spotted in Gurgaon is a 2.4-litre petrol variant. As its engine number matches with the one imported in October-2015, which means India is likely to get 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine develops 174 BHP of peak torque and 225 Nm of torque. Globally, this engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a CVT gearbox as optional.

The 9th generation Accord is speculated to launch this festive season (September-November 2016). When launched expect the car to be priced between Rs. 25-30 lakh and will compete with the likes of Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, and upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
