2015 Mercedes C-Class previewed in Bangalore – order books now open, launch on 25th Nov

2015 Mercedes C-Class was recently previewed at the CeBIT expo in Bangalore. Interested parties are now welcomed to place their orders at respective Mercedes-Benz showrooms across India as the order books are now open. The launch of the car is scheduled to take place on November 25.

The 2015 C-Class is based on the company’s new lightweight modular rear-drive MRA (Mercedes Rear-drive Architecture) platform and will sport a completely new design language having taken inspiration from the flagship S-Class sedan, including the interior. The C-Class has grown in dimensions, it’s now 4,686 mm long (+95 mm longer) and 1,810 mm wide (+40 mm), and it sits on a 2,840-mm wheelbase (+80 mm). By using more aluminum in its construction, though, it’s also lighter by as much as 50 kg.

Initially, the company will bring the new C-Class into the country as CBUs. At first, only petrol variant will be on offer, while diesel variant is expected to be launched at a later date, probably when the local assembly of new C-Class begins. The new C-Class is expected to be priced in the Rs 30-35 lakh bracket. Competition will be from Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, and soon to be launched Jaguar XE sedan.

At the car’s point of launch, the petrol engine range will be include a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 181 hp peak power and 300 Nm torque and comes paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fuel efficiency is expected to be at 14.74 kmpl.
