New 2013 Volvo V40 officially revealed, company aims to sell 90,000 units annually

Earlier we brought you the leaked images of new 2013 Volvo V40, now following the leaks, Volvo has finally taken the covers off of the new hatch. It will start competing in the premium hatchback segment around the world. According to the company will be leading in looks, features, safety and driving dynamics as compared to other premium hatchbacks in its class.

“The all-new V40 is the first new model that is fully developed according to our human-centric, Designed Around You strategy. Charged with an outstanding set of high-tech features it definitely will give our toughest competitors a headache,” says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

New 2013 Volvo V40

The 2013 Volvo V40 is definitely a good looking Scandinavian luxury hatchback and the company says that it paid attention to giving it a high-quality fell in every detail.

“Thanks to input from customers all over the world our most compact V-range model features an outstanding blend of design, safety and versatility. The car is loaded with features that buyers of modern luxury cars want,” explains Stefan Jacoby.

The 2013 Volvo V40 will be available with the company first diesel engine and a turbocharged T5 gasoline engine making 254 Bhp allowing it to go from 0 to 100 kph in 6.7 seconds. All models feature start-stop and braking energy regeneration, whether or not they have a manual or automatic gearbox.

Volvo says it expects to sell 90,000 units of the Volvo V40 on an annual basis. 85 percent of the total volume will go to European markets. No word on whether the India will be getting the new Volvo V40. Production of the new model starts in May 2012.
