Mercedes India’s upcoming SUV launches get a timeline

Mercedes Benz considers India as one of its most important markets and it will be among its top 10 markets by 2020. Before the end of 2016, Mercedes-Benz India would have had four launches in the SUV space and they will be the GLE, GLE Coupe, GLS and GLC.

The first launch will be the GLE Class, what is the facelift for the ML Class. The GLE gets an updated front fascia which would be in sync with the company’s new design philosophy and an overhauled inside with an updated COMAND infotainment system.

As per the latest report, the GLE will arrive towards the end of this current year, and will likewise be joined by the new GLE Coupe. The GLE Coupe, as the name proposes is a more sharp form of the GLE, intended to be the adversary of the BMW X6. For the Indian market, the GLE will be assembled at the Pune plant with four- and six-barrel diesel motors. The GLE Coupe however could be presented as a CBU.

In 2016, Mercedes-Benz India will dispatch the GLS, a facelift for the GL Class. Comprehensively, models of the GLS have effectively begun testing and show outline changes to the headlights and grille. As changes will be just on the cosmetic frontier, the GLS, similar to the GL, will keep on getting assembled in India.

The second half of 2016 will see the dispatch of the new GLC, which was divulged internationally earlier this month. Taking into account the new C Class’ MRA platform, the GLC will make space in the middle of the GLA and GLE. For 2015, Mercedes-Benz India has 15 launches in the pipeline, with the GLE and GLE Coupe being a part of the launch plan.
