The brand new Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG sedan has been launched on the Indian car market in end-July. Price starts at Rs. 68.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new CLA 45 AMG debuted at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

The new CLA 45 AMG is imported into India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route. Currently, the CLA 45 AMG doesn’t have any direct rivals in India, as Audi doesn’t sell the S3 in India as yet, while BMW do not have a sedan on the current 1-Series platform. On the other hand, the company is also expected bring the standard CLA to India with both, petrol and diesel versions, which will arrive in India by early-2015.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG – SideView
The CLA45 is the cheapest AMG powered car one can buy in India and is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces a 355 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. The company claims that this is the ‘world’s most powerful 4-cylinder series production engine’ and can propel the car from 0 to 100 kph in 4.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 kph. The car has an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission with three modes – C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport) and M (Manual) and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG – RearView
Compared to the regular CLA, the CLA 45 AMG spots more aggressive bumpers with larger air intakes and a splitter at the bottom, a twin-blade radiator grille with a central three-point star, 5-twin-spoke 18-inch wheels and badging. The CLA 45 AMG also gets brake calipers lacquered in red.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG – InsideView
On the inside, The CLA 45 gets an AMG sports steering wheel and gearlever, racing seats with red design seat belts and instrument cluster with round black dials, carbon-fibre design and red / silver needles. As far as safety is concerned, it comes loaded with equipment and safety & drive assist features such as Pre-Safe, 3-stage Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and ESP Curve Dynamic Assist.
