India’s leading no.1 passenger car maker, Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will offer dual-airbags and ABS as an option across all the variants of Celerio hatchback, even on the base ‘LXi’ variants.
Last-month, the company started providing optional dual-airbags and ABS across all the variants of the WagonR, Stingray, Swift hatchback and Swift Dzire compact sedan. The Ciaz too got the optional safety packs in September. The additions of these features are expected to make the cars safer.
Generally such a move is prompted by buyer demand and this is a sure sign that the Indian consumer is moving with the times. With other manufacturers such as Ford, Volkswagen and Toyota providing safety features on their entire range of cars, Maruti too is responding by offering them on its range of cars as well, the move is expected to push other manufacturers to start offering similar safety features atleast as an option.
Maruti Suzuki India, Marketing & Sales, Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, said –
“Through Celerio we have always tried to offer the best to customers. By offering safety features like airbags for driver and co-driver, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards in Celerio, we are making it more attractive for customers. I am happy that we are able to offer these safety features on Celerio much ahead of regulations.”
