Mahindra-Renault also tried to launch the sub-4-metre Logan in 2010

Perhaps around 3 years back in March-2010, the folks at BS Motoring spotted the Mahindra Renault Logan (now known as Verito) with a chopped boot in an unknown location in India. Unfortunately, the launch of this chopped version of Logan did not get the green signal for production in India, due to some internal reasons between the two companies the tie-up was broken and as a result of which the two companies then proceeded on their own and introduced many cars into the Indian market.

The idea of launching the compact version of the Logan dates back to 2010. Since the regular version of  Logan did not click for Mahindra, this led Mahindra to continue its efforts in developing hatchback version of the car which would be categorized under sub-4-meter category in which the tail lamps were being moved to the C-Pillars. However, as seen above the rear design just did not click for Mahindra, thus, exited the plan and this car could not see the light of the day.

And recently, the firstever spy pictures of Verito hatch without a single piece of camouflage was disclosed by the folks at AutoCarIndia with which we can make-out, the upcoming Verito hatch has the body style of the compact Logan that was spotted 3 years ago, the only difference is the tail lamp cluster which is now moved onto the C-Pillars. The hatchback version of Verito in known as ‘Vibe’ and is scheduled to launch next-month. It will only be available in Renault sourced 1.5-litre diesel engine which does duty on the regular Verito.
