As the launch date of the all new-2013 KTM Duke 390 comes closer more information has started flowing in. A launch preview event was recently held for Austrian media at the headquarters of KTM Duke, where the production version of the KTM Duke 390 was made available for test ride. The launch is expected to happen in the last week of May-2013 while the price of the 390 Duke is expected to start from Rs 2 lakhs. This competitive pricing is due to dependence on localization of spares. Duke 390 is being built at the Bajaj Auto plant at Chakan near Pune. It is from here the motorcycle will be exported to various markets around the globe. The new Duke 390 shares a lot of its parts from the Duke 200, but there are certain parts that are designed for optimum performance.

The new 2013 KTM Duke will feature a new engine head and a forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder, although the crack case is same as on the Duke 200. The will also come with a Bosch ABS unit installed as a standard, which can be tuned ON and OFF by the rider. The new 6-speed gearbox with different gear ratios will allow maximum delivery of power from its 373cc engine. The new Duke 390 will have Metzeler M5 Sportec tyres even in the Indian version. The current Duke 200 sold globally is already equipped with the same tyres, whereas the Duke 200 sold in India comes with MRF tyres. The Metzeler M5 Sportec tyres have a better wet and dry grip, which plays an important role in handling of the bike. All this and the Duke 390 still weigh just a 10 kgs more than the Duke 200. The Duke 390 reaches a top speed of 160 kmph and does a 0-100 kmph in just 5 odd seconds.
