KTM Duke 390 all set to launch in India by March-2013

KTM Duke 390

Couple of months before, we reported our readers that KTM’s India website marks the Duke 390 with a “coming soon” tag. Now the top official of Bajaj Auto, Joseph Sebastian, who is the business head of the KTM and Kawasaki motorcycle brands in India has confirmed that they will introduce the KTM Duke 390 in the month of March this year.

The new street bike Duke 390 has first unveiled at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. And also there is rumor about the faired version of Duke 390 being launched in India, however the naked version will be launched first, with the faired and touring variants of the motorcycle being launched in the later half of 2013.

Under the skin, the Duke 390 comes powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder 373.2cc fuel injected engine with a DOHC layout. The engine is expected to produce a maximum power output of 44 PS at 9,500 RPM and 35 Nm of maximum torque at 7,250 RPM mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The KTM 390 Duke will come kitted with ABS for Indian bike market.

Like the Duke 200, the KTM Duke 390 will be built at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing facility, off Pune. Also it shares most parts including chassis and styling elements with the Duke 200, so we expect the pricing to be very competitive. We are expecting it to be priced around Rs. 2 lakh and if it happens the bike will perform well for sure.
