KTM’s entry-level adventure series rendered in production form, launch by May-2016

There have been various speculations about KTM’s entry-level adventure series and now the company is not wasting anytime introducing the bike any further.

According to the latest report from AutoCar Professional, the KTM adventure tourer motorcycle will be launch in the Indian market as early as April-May 2016. However, the report doesn’t specifically mention the displacement of the motorcycle.

Going back to 2012 in one of the interviews, KTM CEO and Chairman, Stefan Pierer, said –

“The 390 (390 Duke) is coming, fully-faired versions (RC 200 and RC 390) and the so-called tour-purpose model are also coming. We will have the full model range that can settle in the Asian markets. We will focus more on the higher end, keeping the prime content of KTM very sharp, its ready-to-race attributes, its best performing engine, unique design different from others.”

Thus expect the KTM adventure tourer motorcycle to borrow the engines from the Duke series but safely expect the Austrian-bike maker to re-tune the motors and extract more torque out of them. Expect these models to be priced Rs 10,000 – 15,000, more than their Duke counterparts and will be manufactured at the Bajaj’s facility at Chakan for the entire world.

At the moment, it is still not clear which of the two (Adventure 200 or Adventure 390) will be launched first. The design of the two will be inspired from the KTM 1190 Adventure. Once launched in India, the KTM’s entry-level adventure series will compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Mahindra Mojo.
