Isuzu launches MU-7 SUV and D-MAX pickups on trial basis in India

Isuzu Motors, the Japanase car and utility vehicle maker has decided to make an entry into the Indian market and is expected to start up a factory in Andhra Pradesh soon. The company wants to test Indian waters before going all guns blazing in the country and has begun the trial sales of the company’s offerings in India.

Isuzu has appointed a dealer in Hyderabad and has launched the MU-7 SUV, the D-Max Single Cab Pick Up Truck and the D-Max Twin Cab Pick Up Truck in the country which will be brought in via the CBU route in the country and will be brought through the CKD route once the assembly line starts up. Also, localisation of the car parts is also on the cards to make the pricing competitive.

The MU-7 SUV will retail for Rs.23.75 lakhs as the ex-showroom price in Hyderabad and car will compete with the Toyota Fortuner. Seeing that the company is not yet known in India, people might not buy the butch offering from Isuzu. But what would find a lot of takers would be the D-Max Single Cab Pick Up Truck and the D-Max Twin Cab Pick Up Truck as they come at a competitive price point.

The Single Cab version will sell for Rs.6.87 lakhs as the ex-showroom price while the Twin Cab version will retail for Rs. 8.09 lakhs. The company has already proven its prowess in the diesel engine department and though Isuzu has not released the specifications of the engines as of now, we can expect an announcement regarding what’s under the hood in the coming few days as well. The Japanese see India as an important market and they just took the first step in the right direction.
