The Hyundai Verna needs no introduction. It was launched in India, way back in 2006 and has come a long way since. Hyundai kept updating it and launched a major refresh in 2011 in the form of the Fluidic Verna; even the Fluidic Verna was updated to keep it going with the times, so it’s no wonder why the Verna is the bestselling car from the Hyundai stable, and one of India’s best selling cars too. Hyundai, among other car makers have found out that, to stay in the game and keep getting big numbers in terms of sales, they need to keep showering all their cars with updates, and Hyundai is doing just that.

While the Verna is doing very well in terms of sales, Hyundai still want it to keep going on and on, so they have already started testing the new Verna upgrade, and one of the upgraded Vernas has been spotted while on-test in China. The Verna in China is known as the Hyundai accent and has been doing pretty well there too.

The changes on the car are evident right from the moment one looks at it, the face-lifted Verna gets a redesigned front bumper, a redesigned radiator grille, and an eye for detail will notice the projector headlamps neatly placed inside the headlamp cluster and even the casing for the fog lamps gets a redesign. At the rear too there are quite a few changes, the rear bumper would be redesigned and the bottom part of it will be black in color and shaped like a diffuser. The tail lamps too get a new design and so do the reflectors on the bumper, and the best of all is that, the tail lamps are now LED instead of the conventional reflector type.

Some other changes will include redesigned alloy wheels, optional sunroof and turn indicators integrated into the ORVM’s. However, there would be no changes to the drive-train. The Verna will still be powered by the same 1.4 and 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines with a 4-speed AT, 5-speed MT and 6-speed MT gearboxes as transmission options.

Hyundai is definitely facing the heat from the new Honda city, and is hence making these changes to the Verna to keep the customers flocking to the Verna. The New Verna is expected to be launched in India a few weeks from now.
