Hyosung has big plans for the Indian market in 2014, as it plans to enter the lucrative 250cc segment of motorcycling. Hyosung will launch two bikes in this segment in 2014, the first one will be the Aquila 250 cruiser, which is expected to be revealed at the 2014 auto expo and the second one will be the much anticipated GD250N naked street bike. This motorcycle will be launched in April 2014 and is Hyosung’s answer to KTM and all the other players in the 250cc segment.

The Aquila 250 cruiser is based on a cradle type frame and is powered by a 249cc, oil cooled V-twin engine with a max power output of 27 PS. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and coil over hydraulic dampers at the rear. Styling wise, the Aquila will be similar to its elder sibling, the Aquila Pro, only difference is that it will be smaller in size. We can expect a generous dose of chrome all over the bike. Pricing of the Aquila 250 is expected to breach the 2-lakh rupee mark, ex-showroom that is.

The other bike that Hyosung will launch next year is the naked GD250N. KTM will meet its competition with this bike, because this bike will have the same characteristics as the KTM Duke, and even the pricing and positioning will be in between the 200 and 390 Dukes. it will be sprightly and eager to run and will be one quick machine. The GD250 will be powered by a 249.5cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine putting out 28.4PS @8500rpm and 25NM @7000rpm, and is mated to a 6-speed synchromesh gearbox. This coupled with a dry weight of 130kgs means that the bike will have a very good power to weight ratio, which again means that it will be an amazingly QUICK bike. The GD250N will be underpinned by a diamond type tubular frame, suspension duties will be taken care of by upside down forks up front and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear. It will get 300mm petal disks up front and 230mm petal disk at the rear for braking duties.

Hyosung is going to have an awesome 2014 if they pull off the launch of these two bikes and that too at an affordable price and they will definitely pose a threat to KTM if priced aggressively.
