Honda updates its scooter range with all-new 2013 models

Surprisingly, Honda 2-wheelers has replaced its existing scooter range with all-new 2013 year models of the Activa, Aviator and Dio. The company revealed its new scooter range after inaugurating the new Honda Technical Centre (HTC) at Manesar. As the competition is slowly heating-up, Honda is preparing to keep themselves protected in the India 2-wheeler market.

The new scooters come equipped with Honda Eco Technology (HET), which has been co-developed by Honda’s R&D divisions in Japan, Thailand and Manesar, India. The company says HET improves combustion, reduces friction and optimises the transmission to enhance fuel efficiency by 11 percent. Honda says this platform can be used to develop a range of two-wheelers from 110cc through to 1200cc.

The best selling Honda Activa’s 109cc 8 bhp engine gets the HET which is set to improve the scooter’s mileage from the existing 54 kmpl to 60 kmpl. The2013 Activa will be available in five color options – Wild Purple, Grey, Pearl White, Black and Red. The scooter comes with Combi-brakes, anti-theft key lock shutter and 18-litre under-seat storage facility. The new Activa is priced at Rs 47,188 (ex-showroom Delhi).

2013 Honda Aviator

The 2013 Aviator gets the same engine along with a new Royal Gold metallic colour along with the three existing colours Black, White and Red. The premium scooter is equipped with 12″ wheel and a 190 mm disc bake up front. The HET powered Aviator returning an efficiency of 60kmpl (claimed) has been priced at Rs 48,212 for the standard variant and Rs 53,531 for the deluxe variant (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

The 2013 Honda Dio graduates to the 109cc HET engine that is again borrowed from the Activa, thus develops 8.1PS of power and a claimed efficiency figure of 60kmpl. The stylish scooter gets an eye catching Pearl Yellow along with Red, White and Grey. It comes with tubeless tyres, Combi-brakes and a viscous air filter as standard equipment. The new Dio is priced at Rs 44,701 (ex-showroom Delhi).
