Hero Honda is now Hero MotoCorp and the company revealed its new identity at a mega event in London, UK. The new Hero MotoCorp logo was launched at London’s o2 arena. Along with the identity, Hero also launched a new 150cc bike – Impulse and an 110cc scooter – Maestro. These will be first products under the new brand.

The heartthrob of Indian cinema and youth icon Ranbir Kapoor unveiled the first-of-its-kind 150cc on-road-off-road motorcycle for the Indian market called “Impulse”, leading us to strongly suspect that it is nothing but a rebadged Honda NXR150 BROS which Honda sells in the Brazilian market. No positive nodding on the speculative price is there but we expect it to be priced somewhere between Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 65,000.

The launch of “Impulse” creates a new experience in the Indian biking industry. The dual purpose on-road-off-road bike adds to the excitement every young man wants. The feature-loaded bike takes the rider where his excitement wants him to go by giving him freedom from roads. “Impulse” is loaded with versatile features including  nitrox-gas filled mono-shock rear suspension which ensures a smooth ride on roughest of terrains, high ground clearance with large dial front wheel with stud-type tread pattern tyres and large front disc brakes which lets the rider traverse any road or any stretch.

Additionally, “Impulse” also comes with solid knuckle guards, sporty high mount muffler, large and raised durable sporty fenders, straight pull spokes and motocross seat for the real off-road experience. Digital Combi meter with “Service Due” indicator, clock and digital vertical bar display fuel gauge adds to the overall style which is irresistible.

Volvo Buses showcased their hybrid bus the Volvo 7700 Hybrid at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. This bus has been in operation in 20 cities across the world after its production began in May 2010. It has seen savings of up to 37 per cent in fuel costs and over 50 per cent reduction in hazardous emissions. Present at the launch of its new range of multi-faceted coaches at the 2012 Auto Expo was Akash Passey, Managing Director & CEO, Volvo Buses in South Asia, who said, “The Volvo Hybrid is very much the solution cities & environmentalists have asked for. We are ready. All we await is the demand & the direction from the authorities, so that we can apply this solution specifically to Indian needs. The Volvo 7700 Hybrid has been unveiled to showcase our intent and readiness for India.” The Volvo 7700 Hybrid has a small diesel engine and an electric motor, which can be used either independently or jointly. The battery that drives the electric motor is charger through re-generative braking. Just like the start/stop technology seen in larger executive sedans for conserving fuel, the diesel engine in the 7700 also switches off completely, which also helps create a silent and exhaust-free environment at bus stops. Another distinct feature of this clean environment friendly new age passenger coach from Volvo is that it isn’t only efficient in highly congested city traffic, but functions equally well when there is a greater distance between bus stops   Also see - Volvo B7R chassis : Ultimate Luxury on wheels
